Direct-to-Object Printer for Bottles, Glasses, and Cups Debuts at Pack Expo

Engineered Printing Solutions (EPS), a leading manufacturer of custom industrial inkjet printers, is launching the Roto-JET direct-to-object inkjet printer at Pack Expo 2017, September 25-27 in Las Vegas.

The multi-color, UV-LED, high-resolution inkjet printer is designed specifically for decorating cylindrical objects – including bottles, tapered pint glasses, souvenir plastic cups, and flat-walled bottles.

The EPS Roto-JET is ideal for wineries, breweries, ad specialty companies, and other firms that produce promotional products. The printer can also add text and images to the cylindrical packaging used for cosmetics and health and beauty products.

With average speeds of 800 parts per hour (pph), the Roto-JET features a synchronized printing and curing operation. It can print full CMYKWW. Optional printheads are available for applying primer and varnish.

The Roto-JET can handle glass, metal, or plastic cylindrical objects from 1.5 to 6 inches in diameter and up to 10 inches in length.

Easy to load and unload, the Roto-JET can accommodate either manual or automatic operation. The elliptical, racetrack-style transport system and vertical design keeps the printer within a manageable footprint.

The Roto-JET is built for continuous production, and provides four times the production capacity for twice the cost of competing devices.

“We developed the Roto-JET in response to customer demand,” comments Tim Scully, VP of Sales at EPS. “Several of our long-standing customers approached us separately, each requesting a solution designed to triple the volumes they are able to produce on their single feed systems at a manageable price point.”

For reliable operation, the Roto-JET uses the Xaar 1003 industrial inkjet printheads with Xaar’s unique TF Technology (ink recirculation). Ink is recirculated within the printhead directly past the back of the nozzle during drop ejection at the highest flow rates in the industry. This ensures that the Xaar 1003 operates reliably even in the harshest industrial environments.

“We are delighted to be launching the Roto-JET at this year’s Pack Expo show,” comments Eric Henzie, Director of Marketing at EPS. “This is a great opportunity to showcase our inkjet solutions alongside the major players in the packaging industry.” He said the Roto-JET is attracting interest from a variety of market segments.
