Roland VersaOBJECT UV Printers Can Customize a Variety of 2D and 3D Products

At ISA Expo 2023, Roland DGA launched advanced flatbed and belt-driven UV-LED printers in their new VersaOBJECT® CO Series of inkjet printers. These next-generation inkjet printers are engineered to output vibrant, detailed text, graphics, and images directly on materials ranging from metal and wood to leather, cloth, and plastics.

The CO Series printers have a 7.87-inch carriage height clearance and can print directly on gently curved or uneven surfaces. So, they are ideal for personalizing and customizing consumer products, industrial products and parts, interior décor, signage, POP displays, packaging, and much more.

Print-service providers equipped with a VersaOBJECT printer can expand the range of products they can customize to fulfill orders placed online. Product manufacturers can add variable text, data, or logos to parts or manufactured goods.

Flatbed UV-LED Printers

The flatbed models are available in 30- or 64-in print widths and can print on many of the flexible and rigid materials used in merchandising, packaging, signs, and displays.

The CO-640 printers have printable widths of 63 inches. The printable length depends on the size of the stationery flatbed: 59 in. (F200), 98 in. (F300), and 137 in. (F400).

The CO-300 printers have printable widths of 29 inch and printable length of 59 in. long.

The VersaOBJECT CO printers from Roland DGA are available in a variety of flatbed and hybrid (flatbed/roll-to-roll) configurations. The hybrid models come with a belt drive for faster loading and unloading.

Belt-Drive Hybrid Models

The two belt-drive hybrid models (CO-300 B200 and CO-640 B200),allow for faster loading/unloading of the printed products and can print on roll media as well as rigid materials and three-dimensional objects. The belt-driven hybrid models can print on items with longer shapes and thicker roll media such as natural or synthetic leather, felt, and rubber mats.

These printers will replace the VersaUV® LEC2 S-Series within Roland DGA’s product lineup.

ECO-UV 5 (EUV5) Inks

Versa-OBJECT CO Series printers are engineered to take full advantage of Roland DG’s wide-gamut GREENGUARD Gold certified ECO-UV 5 (EUV5) inks, which cure instantly under the UV-LED lamps.

Users can choose from eight different ink configurations. Some users may prefer using two sets of CMYK inks for increased productivity. Other users may prefer using CMYK inks with optional Red, Orange, or White, Inks, Gloss and Primer. The White and Gloss specialty inks can be used to incorporate stunning dimensional and textural effects into prints. The onboard Primer improves the adhesion of the inks to a wider range of materials.

Performance and Safety Features

All CO Series flatbed and belt-driven hybrid UV printers are equipped with innovative features that optimize overall image quality, performance, and ease of use.

The intuitive Distance Print Mode increases print consistency on objects that are flat, irregular, or curved.

A Reverse Blow function removes material from the bed for clean, efficient production.

Advanced safety features include a separate control panel that creates a safe operating area and an emergency stop perimeter around the base and side of the device. A signal beacon that clearly highlights the printer status.

Every CO Series UV printer comes with included VersaWorks® 6 software – Roland DG’s most powerful and intuitive RIP to date. This feature-filled software features a Harlequin RIP dual core engine with 64-bit native processing for enhanced speed and file handling. Other features include: a simple drag-and-drop interface; variable data printing; and nesting, cropping and tiling tools.

A special Color Plate Generation function in VersaWorks 6 software lets users automatically generate White, Gloss, and Primer layers directly in the RIP, and much more.

Rotary Rack Attachments

At ISA Sign Expo 2023, Roland DGA also unveiled two new Rotary Rack accessories that further expand the range of products that can be customized on the CO Series flatbed and belt-driven UV-LED inkjets.

The Rotary Rack XL is for the 30-inch CO series printers and the Rotary Rack XXL is for the 65-inch CO Series models. The XXL attachment features two 30-inch racks for greater versatility and increased production.

Rotary Rack users can quickly and accurately print partial or full 360-degree wraps on cylindrical objects that range from 0.5 inch to 7.75 inches in diameter. In addition to decorating cylinders, they can print on angled bottles or glassware.
