As part of the Durst P5 platform, the P5 X can be integrated with Durst’s other high-end printing systems for roll-to-roll graphics printing, sublimation printing, and corrugated packaging and displays.

“The P5 X is a testament to our commitment to continuous growth in the large-format printing sector. We continue to push boundaries with new technologies, expanding our capabilities to meet our customers’ evolving needs,” explained Christoph Gamper, CEO and Co-Owner of Durst Group.

Features

The P5 X includes advanced features for high precision, quality, versatility, usability.

Precision and Accuracy: Magnetic linear motors on the X and Y axes ensure precise, reliable movement across the entire workspace. This advanced system allows for faster and simpler positioning without compromising on accuracy, even at high speeds.

Powerful Vacuum Table: The P5 X is equipped with a vacuum table featuring 12 selectable zones. To optimize suction power, press operators can use individual sliders to adapt to the width of the materials placed in the four larger zones. Additionally, the vacuum can be reversed for quick and efficient material removal.

Versatile Color Configuration: The P5 X offers 10 color channels that can be configured to meet the specific requirements of the printing company’s applications, projects, and media types. The Durst P5 X will be able to handle P5 series inks, including CMYK, white, fluorescent inks, orange, violet, light cyan, light magenta, light black, varnish, and primer.

Optimized Media Handling. To serve the users’ need for production efficiency and versatility, the P5 X offers a twin printing mode, multi-track printing, and reverse printing.

The Twin Printing Mode supports seamless printing of both sides of a substrate without waiting times.

The Reverse Printing Mode uses a single printhead for one-pass white over and under printing.

The Multitrack Printing capability enables up to 6 different single-sided or double-sided jobs with different images or board sizes to printed simultaneously.

Visual Status Bar. The status bar provides operators with key information such as system readiness, remaining print time, ink status, and more. This at-a-glance monitoring system enables operators to swiftly react to any situations that might occur while a job is in progress.

Other features in the P5 X were designed for the convenience of the operator. For example, the ergonomic design of the flatbed printer minimizes outer edges so the operators can load and unload materials comfortably in an upright position.

Safety features include a light curtain on the print carriage. This feature slows down the printing when a potentially hazardous interruption occurs.

User-friendly LED indicators show the correct positioning for boards and identify which vacuum rows should be activated. Easy-to-mount magnetic pins streamline job set-up.

Andrea Riccardi, Head of Product Management at Durst Group demonstrated many of the features that make the P5 X a perfect blend of advanced features and accessibility. He believes the P5 X will open new opportunities for those striving for excellence in digital printing.

The P5 X is built to meet the highest standards while also being accessible to those wanting to enter the “Champions League” of digital printing. The P5 X was field tested by Archimede, an Italy-based provider of visual communications and displays for top-tier retail clients and luxury brands. In a Durst AG video on LinkedIn, Daniel Barolomei, CEO of Archimede observed that while comparable flatbed printers excel in certain applications, the P5 X brings together the best technologies in one complete package.
