On International Print Day Wednesday, Oct. 23, print professionals around the world will declare their love for printing by posting “printspiration” across their social media channels. To join the celebration, use the hashtag #IPD24.
This year’s theme is #PrintLife and will show why print can be a fun, rewarding career.
According to International Print Day founder Deborah Corn of the Print Media Ctr, “#PrintLife represents our lives in print – what we do, where we do it, who we do it for.” It also represents our emotional attachment to the tangible medium on print For example, we use print to celebrate important milestones in our lives through personalized keepsakes, photos, and other memorabilia.
Corn urges printing professionals to share some of the cool printed products they have created and show how print media can be used to support digital media.
The posts will help dispel the perception that printing is an antiquated process. Thanks to the digital transformation of printing systems, printing has become a data-driven, ultra-versatile technology that is becoming increasingly automated. The impact of digital printing extends far beyond publishing books, magazines, photos, and newspapers.
“Print is already a big part of people’s lives,” explains Corn. But advances in printing technology are making it possible to customize the decor of homes and businesses, light up soda bottles with printed electronic labels, and create interactive experiences with digital bridges to online media.
“There are so many print applications that consumers are unaware of,” says Corn. “International Print Day is the perfect opportunity to engage and inspire your audience and make new connections and customers by showing off what you can do.”
Last year’s event generated more than 11 million impressions. The International Print Day hashtags recorded to date total more than 200 million.
