Mutoh Receives Patent for UV Local Dimming Technology for UV-LED Inkjets

MUTOH has been granted a patent for its groundbreaking UV Local Dimming Control (LDC) Technology. The technology enables the precise application of CMYK, White, and Clear Varnish in a single pass on Mutoh UV-LED inkjet printers.

This cutting-edge feature is made possible by a UV-LED ink-curing lamp that has six different sections. Each section can be individually controlled, making it possible to produce multiple varnish effects such as gloss, semi-gloss, and matte in the same pass. The result is a substantial increase in productivity and speed.

Mutoh Local Dimming Control for UV-LED Inks

The UV Local Dimming Control technology is integrated into MUTOH’s XpertJet UV-LED printers, including three models that can decorate items up to 5.9 inches thick

The UV Local Dimming Control Technology offers advantages that enhance print quality and streamline workflow:

Reduced printing time. Applying color and various gloss effects in a single pass reduces printing time by almost half. This allows print businesses to meet deadlines without compromising quality.

Easy design with FlexiDesigner Mutoh Edition and Vertelith RIP software. Designing is simple, with the FlexiDesigner Mutoh Edition and Vertelith RIP software included with Mutoh printers. According to a Mutoh spokesperson, achieving different effects within a printed image is as simple as applying different densities to the CMYK image. The higher the spot-varnish density, the glossier the effect produced, When the print file is sent to the CMY+GlossV Print Environment in Vertelith, the correct UV-LED lamp settings for ink curing are automatically applied to the specific areas.

Stunning, vibrant prints with a professional finish. Because LDC enables all layers to be printed simultaneously, it significantly reduces print-quality issues such as graininess, banding, and misaligned layers.
