Mimaki has added a second model to its JFX600 series of UV-LED flatbed inkjet printers. Whereas the the entry-level model (JFX600-2513) has a 4 x 8 ft. bed, the new JFX600-2531 has an 8 x 10 ft. bed. The bigger size means the JFX600-2513 can accommodate two full 4 x 8 ft. sheets of signage materials or one 5 x 10 ft. sheet of architectural materials such as glass, plywood, or decorative panels.
What the JFX600 Series Printers Have in Common
Application Versatility: Both printers are capable of printing on a wide range of substrates, including rigid PVC, acrylic, glass, metal, wood, flexible media, and more. They can be used to make in-store point-of-purchase displays, standees, backlit signs, event graphics, wayfinding signs, and more.
Both flatbed models were engineered to accommodate materials up to 2.36 in. thick, so they can also be used to print on promotional products, product components, or stretched art canvases. In addition to printing sign and display graphics, the flatbed inkjet printer can be used to make decorative elements for sites such as hotels, restaurants, museums, and office lobbies.
2.5D Texture Maker Function: Through the print-management software supplied with JFX600-2531, users can add embossed effects to the print surface. For example, a designer might want to make a rigid panel resemble brick, stone, leather, lace, or fine-grained wood.
What Makes the JFX600-2531 Different
A Choice of Inks: The JFX600-2531 use 6 colors of GREENGUARD GOLD-certified UV-LED inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan, light magenta) which can be used with a White and Clear Ink. An adhesion-promoting primer is also available.
The JFX600-2531 can be loaded with 3 types of inksets, depending on the durability requirements and mix of materials that will be printed most often.
- LH-100 inks deliver high levels of resistance to scratches or chemicals on rigid substrates
- LH-150 inks adhere to the variety of rigid and flexible substrates used in signs and displays
- LUS-120 ink is optimized for flexible materials that require a long outdoor life
Nine Vacuum Zones for Increased Efficiency: The JFX600-2531 has nine selectable vacuum zones to hold materials in place during printing. (The entry-level JFX600-2513 has two). With the turn of a valve, the operator can manually open or close the zones that won’t be needed during a print job. This eliminates the need to manually mask the unused portions of the print bed.
Toggle Print Function: The feature allows the printer operator to divide the print area into two zones: front and back. If two different substrates are placed on the table simultaneously, the operator can prepare one substrate sheet while the other one or being printed. This feature can also keep production running while one print is being flipped over for two-sided printing.
Oversized Media: The bed size of the JFX600-2531 can accommodate sheets of material up to 98.4 in. wide and 122 in. long and 2.36 in. thick. This enables print-service providers to create oversize graphics without seams. It also enables print-service providers to expand into new markets, such as decor and art reproduction.
The printer was announced at the FESPA Expo in March 2024 and will be available for sale this summer. For more information, visit: www.mimakiusa.com/products/uv-led-flatbeds/jfx600-series/
