Ricoh Unveils RICOH Pro C7200 Sheet-Fed Presses for Smaller Print Shops

Ricoh USA, Inc. has announced the availability of its RICOH Pro C7200 series of versatile, sheet-fed, digital presses. Built on the legacy on the RICOH Pro C7100X, the C7210X and C7210SX presses print five colors of toner faster and more accurately while offering greater media flexibility. Equipped with inline sensors and calibration, the presses offer improved front-to-back registration and color consistency without the need for lengthy, specialized training.

A new Invisible Red toner enables print shops to produce tickets, coupons, and similar products with security and authentication designs that are only visible under ultraviolet light.

“When the RICOH Pro C7100X series hit the market, it immediately change the sheet-fed color landscape,” explained John Fulena, Vice-President, Commercial & Industrial Printing Group, Ricoh USA, Inc. “It brought incredible, high-end capabilities, such as five-color printing, synthetic and textured media, and outstanding quality, to everyday ‘Main Street’ printers. With the competition for attention at an all-time high, many printers need new ways to stand out without having to spend like the big guys. The Pro C7200 series is the only platform in its class that delivers the ability to produce unique applications with a fifth color station, large-format sheets up to 49.6 inches, and higher print speeds.”

The RICOH Pro C7200 series prints at 2400 x 4800 dpi VCSEL image quality with a large color gamut without sacrificing speed or versatility. The series offers 85 ppm (page-per-minute) and 95 ppm models with auto-duplex capabilities.

Press users have the option to print on paper lengths up to 49.6 inches simplex or 27.5 inches duplex. This empower printers to add larger-format color printing to their portfolio of services.

The fifth-imaging station of the RICOH PRO 7200 presses can use specialty toners, such as fluorescent pink or yellow, clear, white, or invisible red.

Users of C7200 presses can also print white and CMYK in a single pass and use a variety of substrates such as synthetic papers, window clings, and rich linen-textured papers. A 17-inch Smart Operations Panel allows users to browse and manage the Paper Library directly from the device. The larger panel brings new job- and workflow-management options to the press and offers seamless remote job management and monitoring.

Invisible Red Toner

Invisible Red toner is the latest addition to the suite of specialty toners available for the Ricoh five-color presses. Users can also use white, clear, or fluorescent toners in the fifth color imaging station.

The invisible red toner is invisible under regular circumstances, but under ultraviolet light, it shows as a clear, distinguishable red. It is ideal for adding security features to event tickets, sensitive documents, gamified signage, and other applications. Counterfeiting can be huge problem now that graphic design software is so readily available to everyone. But not every business can afford the expense of security holograms. So, the Invisible Red toner continues in the Ricoh five-color tradition of bringing high-end benefits at an accessible price point.

“In recent years, the battle for audiences’ attention has been heating up, with print service providers looking to add more capabilities that differentiate their service offerings,” said Ron Gilboa, Production Technology Group Director, Keypoint Intelligence. “Unfortunately for smaller print providers, adding new capabilities often mean reaching beyond their equipment budget. However, Ricoh’s offering allows them to get in the game and offer specialty features at a competitive price point. This allows them to capitalize on the growing opportunity in value-add printing beyond CMYK that can garner between 24 – 89 percent premium above four-color printing.”

All RICOH Pro C7200 series presses are ENERGY STAR® certified and carry an EPEAT® Silver rating.
