Fujifilm Acuity TR Printer Uses UV-Curable Water-Based Inks

Fujifilm’s Acuity TR™ revolutionary new 64-inch roll-fed printer uses the company’s proprietary AQUAFUZE™ water-based UV-curable ink. The innovative ink technology combines the benefits and characteristics of water-based and UV inks.

Aquafuze was developed by the Fujifilm Ink Solutions Group, a global manufacturer of high-performance inkjet inks and pigment dispersions.

About Fujifilm Aquafuze Ink Technology

Aquafuze ink uses a photopolymer dispersion with water-based UV-curing to reduce printhead nozzle clogging, improve ink ejection, and eliminate the need for primers, optimizers, or topcoats on a wide range of substrates.

The new inks were developed to meet the evolving needs of wide-format graphics producers. For example, there is a growing demand for inks that offer both high durability and stretchability. Stretchable inks are essential for products that require bending and further processing.

Graphics producers and buyers are also paying closer attention to Ink safety, including odors and solvent emissions during printing. Aquafuze inks empower print professionals to deliver premium results while maintaining a safer, more sustainable print environment.

“This new technology represents a significant step forward offering a unique combination of quality, durability, and versatility,” said Yuji Oki, general manager, Fujifilm North America Corporation, Business Innovation Division. “We are confident that our customers will appreciate the performance and broad application possibilities that Aquafuze inkjet technology provides and anticipate this becoming the new standard in wide-format printing.”

Offering a low-odor, water-based alternative to solvent and latex inks, AQUAFUZE ink technology delivers strong adhesion, scratch resistance, and excellent rub resistance.

Compared to some UV-curable inks, the water-based Aquafuze ink technology produces thin ink layers and a softer surface feel. The prints can be laminated or cut immediately after printing.

Aquafuze ink can be used for applications such as vehicle wraps, film or fabric backlit graphics, window graphic, wall graphics, floor graphics, banners, and large-format signs.

The inks are UL GREENGUARD GOLD certified for wallcoverings and compliant with global safety standards that promote safe, clean printing environments.
