See Color-Controlled Precision Print Workflows at CGS ORIS Americas HQ

CGS ORIS Americas, a leader in digital print, imaging technology, and color management, recently opened a new headquarters and customer-experience center in Plymouth, Minnesota.

The customer experience creates a collaborative space for demonstrations, training sessions, and workflow enhancements. Visitors can explore high-performance UV-inkjet printers by Platinum Technologies, high-resolution METIS surface scanners for fine art and industrial applications, and the high-precision color-management solutions that CGS ORIS has developed for signs and displays, commercial printing, packaging, fine art, and decor.

Platinum Technologies UV Inkjet Printers

CGS ORIS Americas has partnered with Platinum Technologies by Liyu International to show what’s possible when high-performance wide-format flatbed, roll-to-roll, and all-in-one printers are at the center of high-performance, precision-driven print-production workflows.

The Platinum Technologies’ Signature Series of hybrid UV-LED flatbed/roll-to-roll printers provides the brilliant clarity, sharp text, and vibrant color required by suppliers of multiple forms of packaging, signage, interior decor, visual communications, or industrial printing. It can be equipped with up to 40 high-resolution printheads for fast throughput.

Customizable ink configurations can handle the combination of CMYK, light colors, neons, varnish, and primer that best match the user’s production requirements. Models are available with print widths of 7 ft. or 11 ft.

The H3340 model in Platinum Technology’s Signature Series of UV-LED printers can be equipped with up to 40 Ricoh Gen6 printheads and output graphics on rolled or rigid materials up to 11-feet wide. It can achieve print speeds of more than 3700 sq. ft./hr.

The Platinum KCXL+ flatbed printer is capable of producing detailed prints and textures on the multiple flexible and rigid materials used in signage, fine art, displays, decor, and packaging. When receiving image files from the ultra-precise METIS scanner, the KCXL+ printer can replicate the fine details, textures, and subtle tone shifts in original paintings or decorative floor, countertop, or wall panels. This printer has a 10 ft. X 6.7 bed size and can print on rigid substrates up to 3.94 in thick.

Metis Scanning

METIS scanners are known for high-fidelity surface scanning. The newest model, the METIS PM3D HAWK, is built for flawless reproduction of both the colors and surface textures in fine art, flooring, ceramics, wallpapers, and other decor-related products. The device uses dual-laser technology for precise in-register scanning and measurements.

The scanner can also capture the textures needed to produce engraving cylinders and press plates as well as physically based renderings (PBR). PBR is a computer-graphics technique for digitally simulating the effects of lights on surface textures in immersive gaming environments, architectural renderings, and industrial product design and modeling.

CGS ORIS Color Management Tools

CGS ORIS is a long-time developer of powerful color-management tools that keep pace with technology advances in the proofing, prototyping and multi-device production capabilities of digital and analog printing systems. The company serves commercial printers, packaging printers, brand owners, graphic design agencies, marketing companies, industrial printers, and home decor manufacturers.

Here are just a few examples:

PRESS MATCHER makes it easier to achieve accurate and consistent colors on multiple printing devices, including offset presses, electrophotographic toner presses, inkjet production presses, and 4-color and wide-gamut large-format inkjet printers.

X GAMUT simplifies the effort involved in achieving accurate brand and spot colors on conventional offset and flexo presses and digital presses.

CXF Tools and Color Cloud allow designers, marketers, and print-service providers to share and verify brand colors digitally. This eliminates errors caused by traditional physical color samples or ink drawdowns
